If relic recovery feels random, slow down and listen to the ping strength instead of clicking everywhere. Small factual hints matter too: Quartz does not naturally spawn in the Magma layer, so chasing it there is wasted attention.

Later play becomes about smooth operations. The furnace shortcut matters because repeated fuel and ore insertion can become tedious. Farfields resource views matter because tracking materials across systems can otherwise slow decision-making. Turtles and completion goals matter because they create reasons to revisit old layers with better tools. Nix is a good example of how far the game can bend its own rules: she cannot equip pickaxes, so her progress leans on character-specific mechanics rather than the usual tool ladder.
